GPS Innovation Alliance Applauds Reintroduction of Moving FIRST Act

The GPS Innovation Alliance (GPSIA) issued the following statement on reintroduction of the Moving FIRST Act by Senators Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), Richard Burr (R-NC), Cory Gardner (R-CO) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ), as well as Representative Mark DeSaulnier (D-CA). By establishing the Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) Challenge Grant Program, this legislation will encourage the use of technology, including the Global Positioning System (GPS), to advance innovation across communities nationwide.

Lawmakers Launch New GPS Caucus

There are congressional caucuses dedicated to building support for everything from auto care and addiction treatment to chickens and Vietnam. Some caucuses become powerful voting blocks of lawmakers — the House Freedom Caucus played a role in the 2015 resignation of Speaker John Boehner. GPSIA Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Garmin GPS 155’s FAA Certification

WASHINGTON – The GPS Innovation Alliance (GPSIA) issued the following statement, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA’s) certification of the Garmin GPS 155, a device that for the first time enabled pilots to use Global Positioning System as their primary navigation source across all phases of flight — including approach to landing in poor weather conditions. Members of the public may view the prototype, as part of the Time and Navigation exhibition at the National Air and Space Museum.
