He co-founded Inside GNSS magazine in 2006. He was the founding editor of GPS World in 1989, the most significant publication covering what was then a virtually unknown technology. For sixteen years, he led the magazine and developed the journalistic model for covering space-based positioning, navigation, timing, and the leading technologies with which GNSS is integrated. Eliza Schmidkunz![]() Eliza Schmidkunz is a seasoned marketing communications practitioner who has spent 20 years in the Pacific Northwest translating clients’ left-brain requirements into right-brain creativity. She cofounded Gibbons Media and Research LLC in 2005. From 2001 to 2007, she was responsible for internal and external communications for the University of Oregon School of Law. While there, she received a gold award for copywriting and a silver award for the law school catalog from CASE, the association for university advancement professionals. Before that, she worked in a number of creative and marketing management positions in medicine and the natural sciences. These included the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History and its archaelogical research arm, a large west coast hospital consortium and its women’s health education center, a museum exhibit and retail design firm, and a health maintenance organization. Eliza attended the University of California at Santa Cruz and Riverside. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication, where she specialized in advertising. She lives in Eugene, Oregon, USA. On March 9-11, Richard will be at the Richard Fischer joined Inside GNSS in 2009 as director of sales and business development. Before that, he was a vice-president and general manager at Advanstar Communications, a U.S.-based business information company. Fischer’s experience with GNSS media and communications began in 2000 as sales manager for GPS World and Galileo’s World. In 2002, he was promoted to publisher and later, group publisher of Advanstar’s entire geospatial business. Fischer has won various publishing honors. He was a finalist for Min Magazine’s Sales Executive of the Year in 2006 and also for American Business Media’s Jesse H. Neal Award — the premiere award in business-to-business publishing — for best start-up publication in 2007. Fischer is an alumnus of Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA, where he studied economics. He earned a certificate in the Advanced Executive Program at the Medill Journalism School/Kellogg Business School, Northwestern University, in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Gwen Thomsen Rhoads![]() Gwen Thomsen Rhodes, art director for Inside GNSS, has worked in trade magazine publishing for more than sixteen years. She was art director at a large publishing firm, Advanstar Communications, from 1991 to 2003. Before that, she was a designer, account supervisor, and print manager for a small book publisher, Vesta Publications. She has won numerous awards for her work, including two Advanstar awards for best cover for Pharmaceutical Technology in 1996 and 1997 and best graphic presentation for ITS World in 1997. Gwen lives and works in Eugene, Oregon, USA. Peggie Kegel![]() Peggie Peters Kegel, circulation director for Inside GNSS, began her circulation career at trade magazine publishing company Aster Publications in 1989. She later served as circulation director for 28 titles published by Advanstar Communications, including Pharmaceutical Technology, CADalyst, American Salon and GPS World. She worked with then-editor Glen Gibbons to target and develop the GPS World circulation database. Peggie served for two years on the Circulation Committee of American Business Media, New York, and is winner of a FOLIO: Silver Award for her creative design in new business marketing. She attended Western Oregon University. She and her husband live and work in Junction City, Oregon. Mike Lee![]() Mike Lee brings a strong background in journalism to the business of designing and programming websites — as an editor for the University of Oregon's Oregon Quarterly, he created the magazine's Internet presence before the Web even existed. Managing partner of Mike Lee & Me since 1995, he has designed high-profile magazines, websites, and other publications for a number of long-term clients, including the University of Oregon Alumni Association, the UO School of Law, and the Oregon Bach Festival, as well as pro bono work for arts organizations. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Oregon. He lives in San Diego, California, USA. Hans J. KunzeHans J. Kunze (Dipl.-Ing. Univ.) is the technical editor for Inside GNSS. He has been involved with GPS and GNSS technology and its applications for over 20 years. He has held positions in project management at the GPS Joint Program Office, and in product marketing, international business development and general management at various GPS manufacturers. Hans holds an engineering degree from the University of the Armed Forces in Munich, Germany, and attended the Executive Program for General Management at the Anderson School at UCLA. Although an engineer by training, he is a marketer by choice. He frequently presents at GNSS seminars and conferences. He heads KLA Global, a product marketing firm, and follows trends in international, military, and commercial markets. He lives in Los Angeles, California, USA. Sierra Robinson![]() When not editing the Inside GNSS website, Sierra Robinson is a motion picture costumer and actor. She is a member of IATSE Local 705 and the Screen Actor’s Guild. She brings experience as a research, editorial, and administrative assistant for senior executives to her web editing tasks. She also worked as a sales contract auditor for CNET Networks and NBC Internet in San Francisco. Sierra first became interested in GPS in high school in the 1990s, when she wrote her senior thesis on the subject. She earned a B.A. in theater from Grinnell College. She lives and works in Los Angeles, California, USA. Tim Jordan![]() Tim Jordan, designed the print version of InsideGNSS and the company's trade show and marketing graphics. He has twenty-nine years experience in the graphic arts. He has worked for the Oregon University System since 2001, first as a graphic designer in the publications office at Oregon State University, where he developed and implemented their logo and identity system and worked with the team that developed OSU’s website. He then moved to the University of Oregon Office of Publications, where he developed the identity and collateral for the UO’s $600 million "Campaign Oregon: Transforming Lives," and he currently works as art director of Oregon Quarterly, the magazine of the University of Oregon. He also runs a freelance business, TimJordan_Designs. Prior to that, he ran his own studio for five years, was senior designer for a marketing communications firm for six-and-a-half years, art directed for an ad agency for three-and-a-half years, as well as other design-related positions. Tim’s work has won numerous awards, and his work has been published in American Corporate Identity 9 and 10. Tim has attended Pratt Institute School of Art and Design in Brooklyn, NY, University of Oregon, and Oregon State University. He lives with his family in Eugene, Oregon, USA. |
