Combating Terrorism Technology Startup Challenge Includes Urban Navigation Track

The U.S. Department of Defense, Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO), the Israel Ministry of Defense, Defense Research and Development Directorate (MAFAT), and the MIT Enterprise Forum of Israel are pleased to announce CTTSC3, a unique contest to identify and support the startups, entrepreneurs, and innovators that are driving the next breakthroughs in technology for combating terrorism.

One of the goals of the event includes coming up with the next combating-terrorism breakthrough for GNSS-denied navigation.

ESA, Airbus Sign Contract for EGNOS V3 Upgrades

Airbus has been selected as the main contractor to develop EGNOS V3, the next generation of Europe's Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS). The company was awarded the contract by the European Space Agency (ESA), which manages EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service) development under a working arrangement signed with the European GNSS Agency (GSA).

Software-Based GPS Receiver from Galileo Satellite Navigation Now Available on Cadence Tensilica Fusion F1 DSP

Cadence Design Systems and Galileo Satellite Navigation, Ltd. (GSN), a developer of multi-system Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) products, announced that the software-based GNSS global positioning system (GPS) receiver from Galileo Satellite Navigation is now available for the Cadence Tensilica Fusion F1 DSP.

Congress is in the midst of a confusing multi-budget-year scramble to fund the government for fiscal year 2018 - which is now nearly half over - while taking into account additional monies made available in a budget deal signed February 9 and keeping an eye on the deficit ballooning from that deal and under the FY19 White House budget submitted February 12.

$10B Contest Starts for GPS IIIF Contract

Air Force Space Command released its request for proposals (RFP) Tuesday in a winner-take-all contest to build $10 billion of new GPS III satellites.

The entire procurement deal for 22 spacecraft will go to a single bidder, the Air Force Space Command confirmed in its February 13 announcement - something they were already leaning toward last year as a cost-saving measure.

China Launches 2 More BeiDou Satellites into Space

Earlier this week, China launched a pair of BeiDou-3 satellites that will add to the country’s BeiDou-3 navigation constellation. To ensure the stability of the services, China continues to build and improve the domestically developed BeiDou Navigation Satellite System.
