OriginGPS Launches Miniature GPS/GLONASS Module

OriginGPS has announced the launch of the Multi Micro Hornet, a patented, GPS/GLONASS antenna module targeting developers of “wearables” and other devices that require a small form factor, low power consumption, and high sensitivity.

The module measures 20x10x5.9 millimeters, has a signal tracking sensitivity of –165dBm, according to the company. It incorporates OriginGPS’s patented and proprietary Noise Free Zone (NFZ) technology designed to provide high sensitivity and noise immunity under marginal signal conditions.

The Multi Micro Hornet module combines the CSR SiRFstarV GNSS system on a chip and OriginGPS’ proprietary low-profile GPS+GLONASS antenna with a dual-stage low noise amplifier, RF low drop-out (LDO) regulator, surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter, temperature controlled crystal oscillator (TCXO) real-time clock RTC, and RF shield.

The Multi Micro Hornet has pin-to-pin compatibility with other modules — the Micro and Nano — in the company’s Hornet product line.

OriginGPS, based in Airport City, Israel, was founded in 2006 to supply civil and defense markets.
