Brian Taylor is the director of the University of Minnesota Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Laboratory.

His main research interests include developing test techniques and analysis methods for accurately and efficiently modeling aircraft and aircraft components from experimental data. Additionally, Taylor is interested in developing optimal control allocation algorithms to simultaneously meet rigid body control demands, suppress structural modes, minimize structural loading, and reduce drag.

Taylor was a researcher at the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center where he conducted and led parameter estimation, air data calibration, and optimal control allocation research on a number of aircrafts including the X-48B/C, X-56A, and the Subsonic Fixed Wing project.

He was the deputy chief engineer for the X-48C aircraft prior to joining the University of Minnesota in October 2012.
