The International Committee on GNSS (ICG) has published a report on “Current and Planned Global and Regional Navigation Satellite Systems and Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems” that gives an overview of the current status and plans for the world’s four GNSS systems and associated regional and space-based augmentation systems (SBASes).
Produced on the basis of materials submitted by the members of the ICG Providers Forum, the report covers such topics as constellation, signal/frequency plans, performance standards, and policies, such as their perspectives on compatibility and interoperability of the systems.
Although much of the material has been announced and reported elsewhere, the 60-page ICG document draws together in one publication the official descriptions of the programs. It also offers glimpse of new initiatives that some system providers have in mind, such as Galileo’s plans to support proposals for a new global allocation at 2.5 GHz for use by radionavigation satellite service (RNSS) systems at the 2012 World Radiocommunication Conference.
