MMT Launches 20-Channel Module

Micro Modular Technologies (MMT), of Irvine, California, has introduced its MN5515HS GPS receiver module, a low-power, 20-channel GPS receiver module based on the SiRFstarIII GPS receiver chipset.

The MN5515HS has a reported cold-start acquisition sensitivity of –145dBm and tracking sensitivity of –159dBm.

The new module measures just 15x15x2.9 millimeters, and includes a real-time clock circuit and crystal, internal RESET circuit, TCXO, and all RF and baseband processing. The MN5515HS requires a single 3.3-volt DC power supply and consumes less than 80 milliwatts in typical operation, according to the company.

The MN5515HS module will output navigation solutions in either NMEA-0183 or SiRF Binary protocol and operates over a temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C. It is available in tube or tape and reel and is lead-free, RoHS compliant.

The MN5515HS module is available now through MMT’s worldwide sales network. Also available now is an evaluation kit, the MN5515HS-EVK, which allows for easy connection of the GPS receiver module to a PC via USB interface and includes test software for real-world performance evaluation.
