Sensonor STIM300 Provides Inertial Data for INS Unit

The STIM300 inertial measurement unit from Sensonor now provides inertial data for iMAR’s iNAT-M200 inertial navigation system (INS) and for the iATTHEMO-C high-precision heading, attitude, position, and velocity reference, the Horten, Norway-based company says.

The multiband GNSS systems, after extensive testing, are in production and used by several international customers, according to Sensonor. Weighing 750 grams, the compact unit provides high accuracy with STIM300 features three gyros, accelerometers, inclinometers, and a data update rate up to 500 hertz.

Champion Instruments has released its new choke-ring antenna. The unit has an integrated GSM/GRPS modem and features a stable antenna phase center (APC) that is tailored for continuously operating reference station (CORS) base stations, the company said.

Septentrio Signs Deal with JPL, Rolls Out New GNSS Receiver

Septentrio has received a contract from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) for 35 PolaRx5 GNSS receivers, the company said. The receivers, which consist of 25 reference stations and 10 timing instruments, will be used in the NASA Global GNSS Network (GGN).

In other company news, Septentrio rolled out its new PolaRx5TR GNSS receiver. The unit has 544 hardware channels, features a calibration circuit, and supports all major constellations including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, and IRNSS, the company said.

IFEN Launches NCS TITAN GNSS Simulator

IFEN has announced its new NCS TITAN multi-GNSS, multi-frequency and multi-RF output simulator.

With up to 256 channels and up to four RF outputs per chassis, the TITAN design avoids the extra complexity and cost of using additional signal generators or intricate architectures involv¬ing several hardware boxes, IFEN says, which improves reliability without compromising functionality.

GPS Networking has introduced its dual-antenna rack mount splitter (DRMALDCBS1X16) that is ideal for timing and testing applications, the company said. The unit features two antenna inputs, 16 outputs, flat group delay, and high-isolation option.

Spirent Announces Interference Detection and Analysis Unit

Spirent Communications plc’s Positioning Technology Unit has announced the GSS200D Interference Detection and Analysis solution, developed as part of Spirent’s partnership with Nottingham Scientific Limited.

The GSS200D comprises field-based hardware and a secure data server for automatic capture and analysis of GNSS radio frequency interference. According to the Paignton, UK–based company, deployments of GSS200D probes provide users with a thorough understanding of the RF interference (RFI) environment at sites of interest.

Market Study See GNSS Growth in Autonomous Markets by 2021

Low-cost, precision, GNSS receivers will become a reality in the driverless cars, drones, and smartphone markets by 2021, said ABI Research in two new reports, “Precision GNSS in Automotive” and “GNSS IC Design Trends: Modules, Standalone, Combo, and Embedded.”

The automotive industry will be the main driver behind precision GNSS receiver adoption, in which centimeter-level accuracy is essential to complete driver safety systems with the redundancy necessary for autonomous vehicles, the company said.

Leveraging previous generations of precise positioning technology, the OEM7 incorporates new capabilities and features designed to substantially enhance GNSS-based positioning reliability, accuracy and availability, the company says.

u-blox Profits Grow in First Half 2016

Thalwil, Switzerland–based u-blox consolidated revenues for 2016’s first six months rose to CHF179.7 million Swiss francs (US$182 million), an 11 percent increase over the same period last year. The company’s net profit also increased 9.2 percent, from CHF15 million in 2015 to CHF18 million during the first half of this year.

The majority of revenue came from GNSS positioning chips and wireless modules. At the same time, revenue from wireless services increased 17.8 percent over the year-earlier period.

Clarion to Use Furuno’s GPS Receiver with DR/GNSS Module in Navigation System

Furuno’s GV-86 GPS receiver chip with its dead-reckoning DR/GNSS module will be integrated into Clarion’s NXR16 car navigation systems for the auto-leasing and car rental industries.

The GV-86 features a dead-reckoning-enabled GNSS receiver, which receives concurrent GPS, SBAS, and QZSS satellite signals. The dead-reckoning capability allows the unit to provide positioning while receiving multiple GNSS signals in such harsh environments as tunnels, urban canyons and underground parking, the company said.
