The 2009 International Global Navigation Satellite Systems Society (IGNSS) conference and trade exhibition will be held at the Holiday Inn Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia from Tuesday December 1 to Thursday December 3, 2009.

The 2009 International Global Navigation Satellite Systems Society (IGNSS) conference and trade exhibition will be held at the Holiday Inn Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia from Tuesday December 1 to Thursday December 3, 2009.

The UN International Committee on GNSS Working Group on Compatibility and Interoperability will meet during the conference. So, for the first time in its history, IGNSS will have keynote presentations from all four system providers: GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Compass. There will also be presentations from Japan and India, whose regional systems will cover Australia.

The conference targets those who are looking for a technology update from a hardware or applications point of view, are involved in government policy areas,  or are an end-user looking for a forum to discuss the implementation of GNSS.

The event features interactive forum sessions and discussions with representatives from all the satellite system providers, major hardware manufacturers and application developers.

Presentations will address system status, trends and technologies; receivers and signals; policy issues; applications, products and services; and non-satellite positioning methods.

The Chair of the 2009 Conference Committee is Associate Professor Andrew Dempster of  the School of Surveying and Spatial Information Systems, the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia

The IGNSS is a not for profit association incorporated in Australia for the purpose of encourage public awareness of GNSS, research in GNSS-related disciplines, and development of end-user GNSS applications. Membership is free.
