Looking on the Bright Side from the Munich Satellite Navigation Summit

The opening plenary of the annual Satellite Navigation Summit in Munich tends to be a ritzy affair, taking place in the evening in an amazing converted chapel and featuring live musical interludes in between groups of speakers. This year the audience was treated to movie tunes, and the European Commission's Pierre Delsaux had a suggestion for the play list.

Series of Integrated GNSS Receivers Based on the Loradd++ Core Now Available from reelektronika

Designed to deliver a breakthrough in size reduction and lower power needs, reelektronika announces the development of a new series of integrated eLoran/Chayka/GNSS receivers based on the Loradd++ core which extends the range of currently produced receivers.

The need to significantly reduce the size and power consumption of receivers was the main driver of this development, according to Reeuwijk, Netherlands-based Reelektronika. Low power and small size are among the prerequisites for developing wearable instruments.

China to Launch First BeiDou-3 Navigation Satellite this Summer

Chinese navigation satellite BeiDou-3 is scheduled to be launched in July 2017, according to its developer, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). As reported in January by People’s Daily, a publication of the state news agency, the company claimed that six to eight satellites will be deployed within the year.

LabSat Releases LabSat 3 Wideband GNSS Simulator

LabSat announced the launch of the new LabSat 3 Wideband, which can record multiple signals from different constellations, simultaneously, and the company also is developing an updated version of its SatGen software.

The LabSat 3 Wideband can record GPS L1, L2 and L5 at the same time as GLONASS G1 and G2, and BeiDou B1 and B2. The company describes the lightweight unit as its most powerful to date, yet the small, easy-to-use LabSat 3 Wideband retains the one-touch recording and playback of files.
