2008 Canadian Geophysical Union (CGU) Scientific Meeting

This year’s CGU meeting includes a Geodesy and Geodynamics session on Monday,May 12 or Tuesday, May 13 (TBA) and encourages submission of papers on geodetic measurments involving GNSS, VLBI, gravity and other individual and combined ground and space techniques. Abstracts are due by February 15.

The session will cover interpretation and application of the geodetic signal into investigations towards crustal deformation, Earth rotation and polar motion, precise orbit determination, analysis and prediction of processes involving the oceans, atmosphere and internal processes at the core-mantle boundary as well as in the solid Earth.

The conference includes a one-day field trip to the Columbia Icefield and a two-day fluvial trip to the Upper Columbia Valley.

Banff, a famous resort town, is located in the center of Canada’s Banff National Park and is surrounded by Alberta’ s Rocky Mountains.
